Join Band and Strings at Dickson

Posted Date: 08/21/26 (04:35 PM)

Hello Dickson Families,

Welcome to a new school year and with it the opportunity to join band and strings for new and returning students. My name is Mr. Beltran and I am the new music teacher at Dickson. If your student is interested in joining or returning to band or strings, you will find a link to a registration form below. If your child is not interested in joining, you may disregard this message.

Step 1: Sign-Up for Band or Strings!

Scan the QR Code or click the link below for the online band and strings registration form.

Step 2: Get an instrument

There are several ways to get an instrument.

1. Renting an Instrument. This is the best way to get an instrument. Most instruments are priced quite affordably for rentals and you can return the instrument if your student finds that band or stings is not for them, or if they want to try a different instrument (please speak to me first if your student wishes to change instruments). Below, you will find a QR Code and a link that links to an online rental retailer called Sweetwater Music ( Sweetwater is not affiliated with Chino Valley USD and is listed only for your convenience). Other retailers are listed in the attached registration packet. The advantage of renting an instrument is that your student will almost certainly get the instrument that they want to play.

2. Buying an Instrument:

We DO NOT recommend buying an instrument. Many instruments listed in the $100 - $300 range online are often poor quality and will break easily and they will not be able to be repaired. Quality instruments often cost $500 and often much more.

3. Borrowing an instrument from a friend:

If you have a friend or family member who owns an instrument that is not being used, it never hurts to ask if they are willing to let you borrow it. If you choose this option, please make sure to have an instrument repair person check it to make sure it is in working condition.

4. Chino Valley USD Scholarship Instrument Program:

If the instrument rentals listed above are unaffordable for your family, CVUSD has a limited number of instruments available at no charge. These instruments should be for students with financial need only. Application forms for this program are available in the office. Students who apply ARE NOT GUARANTEED an instrument.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and I look forward to seeing all new and returning students in my band and strings classes. Band and Strings classes will begin the week of August 31st The exact say depends on the schedule for their chosen level and instrument. See the attached information packet below for more details.

Thank You,

Andre Beltran
